I moved to Texas recently from Melbourne FL. Heard there wasn't much surf so I sold my boards before I moved. Kinda wish I kept the longboard but oh well. I am planning on bringing the family down from S.A. on fathers day for our first trip to Mustang Island. What type of boards do you have for rentals?

Im not sure if I can help ya too much, but whenever I go down I rent a foamie longboard. So far this weekend, I havent seen anything that incredibly rideable so a longboard will prolly be your best shot to catch some waves. JMO.
Good Luck!

Hey Floater...summer is not the best time to expect surf...except when something tropical is brewing. I would check the local surf shops in Port A and Corpus for rentals etc. I have found that Surfline is the best at forecasting. The local surf shops are great at current conditions. Surfline gives you a 3 day forecast, but if you are a member, you get a 5 day and lots of perks. Let me know what you decide. I live in the Dallas area, so I really need to plan, or just drop everything and go!

Floater,

I did the same thing. Moved here from Florida 7 years ago.

I had lived in Texas and knew there WAS surf , ya just have to be able to drop and go as SnTX said.

Next weekend looks like thigh-waist high and choppy range to me.

Come by the shop and rent a fun shape or long board, maybe a soft top for the kiddo's...

Come on and enjoy...!

Floater--you did what?? sold your boards because you moved to Texas, thats the dumbest thing i've ever heard cheers someone gave you some bad information lol!

Texas has way more surf the west coast of Florida could ever think of Shocked

So you moved from Melbourne, Fl to Port A or San Antonio? I did the same thing many years ago and then back to Melbourne beach.
