Whats up with the crappy new cam spot? You cant tell anything with that view.

Yeah I like the pier shot better,hopefully its just a temporary thing. It does confirm what Chris says quite a bit which is, the waves down the beach are larger than at the pier. Specialy if the swell has some easterly in it.

I know its almost always bigger south. I never surf port a but its the only cam to give you a good idea of what to expect.

i got an email from the owner of the cam..

he said he is out of town for a while, dealing with some medical issues.

he did not say if or when the cam will be adjusted..

but he did say the different angle was based on a bet..


i am guessing it will be changed in the near future.

I am back from Houston. The management at the Dunes is convinced this is the best view. Their are a allot reason why I disagree.

1. The sun hangs out in that area for more hours of the day which will shorten the life of the auto focus.

2. Pointing a camera towards the sun results in a less vivid photo

3. Because the SE wind is hitting the lens it will be difficult if not impossible to keep the glass clean and in the end will result in it being more likely that the camera will be damaged

4. The view provides less information

5. A view of garbage cans and skidocans makes our beaches look less attractive. They may be necessary but should not be used in advertising.

the dunes condos were built in part due to the fact that it is near the pier.

the pier was a determining factor in the original decision to build.

the pier is a part of what makes staying at the dunes attractive to many folks that come to port a.

even if the mgt @ the dunes doesn't get it,,,thanx for providing the cam adolpho.
