Sea Weed Empty
PostSubject: Sea Weed   Sea Weed EmptyWed Jun 13, 2007 8:30 am

I was talking to an environmental engineer from kelloggs brown and root and he was telling me the sea weed always dies when the water gets to a certain temp, but the amount is due to fertilizer run off from adjacent agricultural areas. Corn - Maze farming is booming due to the increased demand for ethanol !

Isn't that just great. We try to go GREEN and one of the side effects is an increase in the seaweed beds, and subsequently our beachs are pilled up with rotting seaweed.

I'm blaming everyting on Global Warming regardless. If my dog chases a cat..Global Warming..If my boat breaks.. Global Warming.

So due to the need to go green and reduce the whole Green House deal, I guess we will have to deal with a little seaweed..

You know, maybe I'm crazy but the seaweed really doesn't bother me. I realize it is smelly sometimes, and all that stuff, but I also know that that is just part of the ocean ecosystem that we all, hopefully, care so much about. I just walk past it, paddle out and enjoy my session. I love ocean living and everything that entails, even the seaweed. I guess I'm weird.

The global warming debate is already pissing me off, it is ridiculous. I am someone you would consider to be a "tree hugger" (only when it comes to the environment...no tofu, dreadlocks, hairy-pitted girlfriend here), but there is almost a blatant witch hunt occuring right now when it comes to pinning this on someone/thing. Figure out another fuel we can power our lives with and i think the debate will quiet down quite alot. Heck....why are we even sending people to Mars anymore? We are screwing up one planet apparently so now we need to find a new one. Stop spending all that money on researching how beards and tomatoes grow in space and spend that money at home!!!!!
