| I was looking for a new board and I saw the Webber Fatburner. http://www.surfindustries.com/surfboards/webber_fatburner.phpIt looks like a pretty legit board for down here. I ride a 6'4 al merrick right now that seems a little to small for me. Im 6'2 and 188 pounds. Any other suggestions for new boards are welcome aswell. Those webbers just happen to be on the lesser expensive side. | |

| thats a monster of a board man. Yeah, i was reading reviews and most people really like it. Im looking toward a 6'3. it says tahts only rated for 175 + or - 10 pounds, and im right 190. Not sure if i can still go with the 6'3 or i need to step it up to the 6'6? | |

| i broke down and bought a 6'10" Rusty Piranha thruster. i was somewhat apprehensive because it is a Surftech type board and not the normal fiberglass. end summary - the board works great - late drops are no big deal, loose off the bottom but has drive. Also this Surftech is pretty cool in that it is virtually impossible to ding the board - especially handy if you like to travel and throw your boards around like i do. I come in at 205 and 6'1" tall, so I like the extra length for paddling, but the board can still be ducked-dive with ease. My advice is to rent a couple boards and try them out - since boards are getting so expensive, also check for used boards, sometimes can find good deals there as well. | |

| You will have much more fun on a 6'10". You will catch many more waves and be able to stay in the water longer. With the fin set ups these days, boards are much looser.
AND when it come time to put on the wet suit, you will be glad you opted for a longer board.

| Coastal Ben said it best!!! You can set this board as a quad or tri set up. It is super light epoxy and hard to ding. I would highly reccomend the 6'10 because of your size and weight....something you can grow into | |

| dude, i dont know if i want a board that is 6'10. that seems a little big. Im not gonna grow anymore, or put on weight. and ben, thats a sick board, but a little out of my price range. Im gonna sell my merrick and try to stay in the 450$ and under range. so used is probably best.
do you really think a 6'6 is gonna be too small for me?

| You REALLY need more than one board. I was your same size in High School. Bigger arms chest and shoulders of course, I surfed a 6'10" Stinger. I loved that board. I also had a 6'4" stinger diamond tail and 6'8" lightening bolt round pin. I caught more waves and had more fun on the 6'10. I surfed contests with it if that tell you anything.
That being said. perhaps 6'8" aipa stinger fish epoxy..check craigs and ebay

| I would also think the 6'10" would be better for the surf in PortA...the 6'6" would also work, but let's face it - we have some gentle rollers out here. Think about last Friday - on a 6'3" you're probably sitting inside the T catching the waves - having a blast - sure - but watching the longboards catch the bigger and cleaner outside sets coming in. With that 6'10" Weber, you've got a shot at catching these outside waves...keep your other board and you still have something small for the peaky days.
I have a 6'2" and a 9 footer, and I was pretty hesitant when I bought the longboard. I find that I'm on the longboard much more in PortA and travel a bit more with the shorter board. I'm now looking to find a used 7'6" or 8'0" as a tweener both for me and others (see below).
As for the Surftech - I have a sure way to ding it up:) I taught my young nephews and nieces how to surf out there during spring break - they had a blast and pretty much lived on the beach and on the longboard for 3 days...I didn't inspect it until last week and had to remove a rock from the side and do some pretty gnarly ding repair around the edges before Friday afternoon...however, I wouldn't trade that for the smiles and laughs those kids that are landlocked in North Dallas got out of those few days in the water...

| alright, i can agree on something like 6'8. I know i need 2 boards, but im in a money crunch right now and only reason im getting a new board is cause my brother is buying my merrick and ill ahve the money for a better sized board, ill up the arsenal when summer rolls around.
Ill come by sometime and talk to you about it more ben.

| I also have a 7'2 Becker (Yater Hot Dog) tri fin that I use. So I have most conditions pretty much covered. I was not trying to insult you about getting fat or something. I noticed you are 18, and when I was your age I weighed 165#. I am in my 40's now and weigh 190#. I just think you cannot go wrong with a larger board for the conditions we have down here | |
