| Would you please not send more surfers to South Packie and BHP? It's crowded enough as is. Why don't you give the conditions, swell size and direction, wind, water temp, etc. and then let surfers decide where the best bet for the day is. That's part of surfing, learning your local spots and making the call yourself.
THANKS | |

THANKS I always appreciated the help I received from experienced surfers, and I intend to pay it forward... Peace JRoger CB

| jroger--dude--Texas surf is so wide open, how can you deny people a little info? it's not like some secret point break with a narrow window of take off...
CB-thanks as always for the posts! especially when deciding on making the drive or not

| share the stoke, share the surf...know there will always be more waves. Sure it's nice to find some solace in the surf. go find an empty spot somewhere along the open beach if you can't catch waves when other people are out.javascript:emoticonp(' ') | |

| Absolutely agree. This is where I check EVERYDAY before I decide to drive in for a few hours from San Antonio...this is an invaluable service to us landlocked surfers. | |

| Really enjoy your surf reports Ben!
I must be a kook....been surfing since 1970 (Surfside pier & North Jetties). Joined the Coast Guard in 1980 and surfed and served 20 more years....Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Cape Hatteras, Steamer Lane, Trestles, Ano Nuevo, Blacks Beach, Kodiak Island Alaska...yada yada yada!). Surfed the Columbia River mouth in a Coast Guard 44ft motorsurf boat, launching up and over 20-25ft breakers....I've seen her at her worst...heard men die and recovered the bodies. I know a thing or two about Mother Ocean.
Keep it real Ben! Your surf reports are keeping my salt levels on an even keel. I have to roll all the way down from Kerrville, hauling my sticks, sure is great to feel the vibes all the way up here in the Texas Hill Country!
Sure I can read the swell data, measure the barometric gradients working CONUS, YUCATAN & GULF...tossing a little Coast Guard theory and years of living and working Mother Ocean into my own surf analysis but....Ben, your reports bring what's missing in it all.... IT'S THE SOUL & SPIRIT!
Surf on Brother!

| Chris and I try to give the most accurate reports possible. This means driving the beach first thing in the morning and a couple three times a day. Walking the pier or Jettys whatever to get out the report.

| most of the time, IF I report surf and recommend further south.
i do NOT usually name packie or bhp or south padre.
i usually say south of town.
south of town could be one mile to 15 miles, and ANYWHERE IN BETWEEN.
it could also mean fish pass which i dont usually say. it could also mean the national seashore, it could mean mansfield.
it could just mean south of town anywhere there is an OPEN beach break.
i personally am not a fan of crowds or crowded spots and i usually will not incourage creating a crowd.
i am done with this rambing.
enjoy the holidays | |

| There's a lot of surfers here now. A lot of them read this report. When you mention a spot everybody hits it and it just throws the crowd off balance. Better to let the crowd spread out naturally. I don't think you should mention spots. Just my 2 cents worth. | |

THANKS what happens when a hurricane swell or cold front hits p.a. better than south? all the corpanoids pile up @ h.c. it's just the nature of the beast. if ya can't handle crowds i would not recommend traveling to hawaii,cali,florida,mex,costa...etc etc... ...just sayin'

| I moved here recently from a little place known as the space coast of Florida. I surfed from port canaveral all the way the way down to sebastin inlet. I have yet to see the same crowds here. You don't like, ride a skateboard. Keep those reports coming. | |
