Stand up Paddle event or race?

Hey I wonder how everyone feels about creating a SUP race or endurance event......I just moved to Rockport from Austin and am thinking of talking to the locals about permission to start one.

SUP is increasingly popular here in Port A as well. I know about 3 or 4 die hards. Yes! I think an event is needed. Maybe a route from the South Jetty to Horace Caldwell pier to another marker and back. I wil check interest level.

I was thinking about organizing it off of Blue water beach....race to the House piers and back.
