Hey everyone! I am new to the forum! I am a 29yr old female who is thinking about learning how to surf. I am currently a skimboarder and love it but surfing looks like a lot of fun too.

Is surfing hard to learn? Do any of you skimboard?

Hi HOLLY,

Welcome to the club! I just learned to surf back in May and I'm HOOKED for life.....LOVE IT. Even bought my first board about a month ago. Got it from one of the regular nice guys on this forum! If and when you decide to surf you will never look back! BEST OF EVERYTHING!

Hey Holly,
Welcome to the forum. If you are learning to surf, you should grab one of those soft surfboards from Chris, 8-9 foot is probably best to learn on. $150 is muy cheapo. Good luck, and get ready to put your skimboard away for a while, once you catch that first wave, you're not gonna want to come in. Surfing is a WAAAAY longer and better ride. Plus there is more water to eat it in. lol!

TTYL,
Justin

Mike,

I'm glad you're enjoying the board. I'll be down there in the FJ Cruiser tonight through the weekend. Maybe we can paddle out if your gonna be there. Talk to you later.

Justin,

If the waves are pretty good I am going to come down late Saturday or real early Sunday. I will look for you around the pier! Can't wait!

Doing some yard work yesterday afternoon and was in and out of my shop....kept staring at THE BOARD...I think I've got some sort of surf disease or something? Smile Is this normal? Smile

Wow all you guys are super nice! Yeah I have wanted to learn to surf for awhile but one of the skimboarders I talked to said he use to surf just past the pier until he saw a shark...I am not a strong swimmer either. I just got into skimboarding a few months ago and progressing pretty good. What shop is it? I will go check it out and talk to Chris. I know what you mean about not wanting to come in. When I skimboard...I hate having to leave..I alway say "just one more run" which turns into four or five more before I actually leave...lol I LOVE the beach and the water!

Ok thanks I will drop by when I get my next paycheck and check out yoru boards! How far out do I have to go to surf? I am not a very strong swimmer and I get scared if I can't touch the bottom very well. That is another reason why I skimboard but I have always wanted to try surfing. It looks like so much fun!
