I would say there ARE decent jobs available and nice places to stay in the area. I can't say much about the waves (nice and choppy?), but we just moved down to Ingleside (nice little town 20 minutes from Port A). We found a decent 2 bdrm apartment for $695/month, water included. The place is nice, especially for the price. Nice scenery, family/kid-friendly. There are lots of customer service related jobs in the Corpus area. Within 2 weeks of being here I got a job at the the Texas State Aquarium (entry-level) and my roomate and cousin found new jobs that quick as well (carsalesman and welder; their previous occupations). Not to mention, we're all in our early-20's/30's.

I would suggest looking on craigslist for the job you want.

Also, from driving around the island, it looks like Port A is big on real estate. Corpus Christi seems pretty big, so there's lots of job opprtunities and if you don't want to live on the island or in the big city, there's nice little towns within 20-30 minutes.

Good luck!!

We're loving this place Wink
