you will have a tuff time finding an 8 footer that is thich enough to float you properly..

most of the time i have a hard time if the board is not 9 foot or bigger and i am 240..

so 8 footer needs to be super thick for that weight..

even harder to find a beater that thick..cause most boards were not built that thick in the past..(not many)

i have a new wave hog at the shop that is pretty darn thick..
also an infiinity surfboard that is ULTRA thick and will float you but it is very exspensive..new...

i highly recommend...7'2'' or 7'6'' or 8'0'' or 9'0''
a smaller person can surf on anything..however,,,if they are a beginner it is nice to have some length with a board so they will catch more waves..and ride further and have (some) more stability..
i am refferencing the nephew assuming he is young and doesnt weigh a lot..

yeah my nephew is 12 and weighs about 65 lbs he is short also so I don't want it too long where he can't control it with his light weight can you see that being a problem????

PostSubject: kids and boards   8 footer for 250er EmptyMon Apr 28, 2008 6:40 am

i am NOT a know it all; but, i do have 7 children...

i have seen a lot over the years...

ages of my kids...

4(twins), 11, 13, 16, 23, 25.

over the course of all these years and working with my own as well as others....they need to be able to float easily, catch waves easily, and have stability as i have said before...so size is important..

everyone is different..but my kids prefer 9 footers...the twins love the 10 foot soft board.

i am not saying to go stictly long..so if you think you want something smaller look at my previous list of sizes..and i do NOT recommend you go smaller than 7'2'' unless you get a big fat fish shape like 9fish surfboards..

maybe..not sure..

kinda sounds like an online brand that sells boards inexspensively..??

if you have the website..pls send me a personal message or email me
at portasurfco@yahoo.com,,thx

if it is an online brand that is selling boards cheaply/inexpsensively, most likely i have the same boards for less and you dont have to pay close to a hundred bucks in freight...are they epoxy?

No its a person selling it and she is from England though i don't think it is english.... I was kind of skeptical ... its only an eight foot but they say it is in nearly new cond. and only 150.00 so for that price isaid it is worth a look . even if it is to small for me i might be able to pull a trade with someone for a longer board
