| Hey everyone! I am new to surfing and am really wanting to get some feedback on good places to stay. I have stayed at a few cottages in the area but am just looking for a cheaper option!

| if you are looking for a little lower prices..
king fish courts
rock cottages
shark reef motel
i am basing this on here say..worth a try though..
also,,,camping at i.b. magee park between jetty and pier..public shower/restroom beach side here as well
or using a tent on the beach..i am not recommending this..but i am saying tons of people do it..and it is cheap.

| Tent = Will have to check out the place with a shower...since I don't so much as mind camping, it is just nice to wash the sand off! Setting up a tent on the beach can be a bit challenging with the wind and all and may provide some comedic value for others! I have stayed in the Rock Cottages, and they are extremely close, and not so bad if you are budget minded and just looking for somewhere to shower and sleep, although at times it is was reminiscent of the movie "Vacancy" another great place is the Double Barr cottages...a bit more expensive, but full kitchen and two rooms. | |

| I suppose the best question is, how much are you looking to spend per day? | |

| the shark reef is about the cheapest place in town but if yer camping there's showers @ i.b.magee beach park & @ the ave.g(g street) access.a couple of gallons of fresh water in the truck/car never hurts either for insta rinse. | |

| I think you're also overlooking the obvious. Mustang Island State Park has really nice grassy campgrounds with showers. If you buy the State Park pass for $60 your entrance to the park for the day is free and campsites are only $16 per night. As you would expect, they provide showers and a secure location to stay the night.
We've stayed there before and loved it.

| Hey Ashley...I drive in from Austin all the time and just sleep in my Xterra. I shower at the above mentioned sites....eat a good meal...a couple of Coronas and I'm done for the day. To me getting a room is nice but not worth the money. I have a 12volt fan and made screens for my windows for some air flow. Makes sleeping in my rig very comfortable. | |

| <<<you would think it would be a horrible time there cause to much mexicans everywere>>> Actually, I wouldn't think that. You're implying that we all share those same feelings towards another race and that's not so cool bro. I have been to Mex. It is a wonderful place BECAUSE of all the Mexicans who are some of the most generous folks I've come across. Of course there are jerks in every culture but usually the ones I come across in traveling are self-rightous Americans. I know this is a forum and we all have different views but you may want to keep statments like those in check. Keep it about surf As for your question Ash. Check into bringing some travel buddies down! Split the cost and it will get you a lot further. I think the way to go is a place that has a kitchen so you can save some cash on eating out. Also, think about getting supplies in Corpus if you drive through there as Port A IGA can be a little steep in prices. | |

man i hate to say it but the more you talk the less you say & your mentality demeans your age.....you have no clue about mexico, the people, or surf for that matter....if your smart youwill stop now before you really offend someone or get yourself in trouble on the sand... just advice & no offense.

| Hey Maddsurf,
Didn't mean to bring you down. I just did not understand some of your comments. I personally think not so much a Special Ed issue as me not being in tune with the younger folks' internet language.
You know I got's to get it right. You're OK, Dude -- Keep your stoke.
So, when can we go to Mexico?
